1800 House Survey

Thank you to all the members who attended this year’s Annual Meeting.  As discussed at that meeting the board is considering deaccessioning the 1800 house.  As the board continues to consider this we have created this web form for members to express their views on this topic.

1800 House is one of 22 properties in our collection. It has been part of the collection for over 70 years and has been used over that time for a variety of purposes.  Given changes in the size and composition of our property collection and changes in Nantucket, such as the advent of the HDC, the board has been wrestling with the issue of whether this property should still be in the collection or whether proceeds from a sale could be put to better use in other ways.  While the board can make a recommendation to deaccession the property, the final decision belongs to the members of the NHA. As the board continues to evaluate its recommendation, we view member comments as a vital portion of our process.  And I hope that members will benefit from the comments as well.

We appreciate your input and suggestions regarding the potential sale of 1800 House.  Please fill out the form and provide your comments.

Thank you,
Chip Carver
Board President
