Research Library Photography Guidelines

Only hand-held cameras are permitted. The photographer’s feet must remain on the floor at all times, and the use of tripods, chairs, stools, ladders or other devices is not permitted.

All photographs must be taken using available light within the reading room. The use of items to block or alter available light is not permitted.

Please be sure to turn off your camera flash.

Only still photography is permitted.

Manuscripts, maps, broadsides, and other single sheets must be kept on the table during photography. All bound materials must be photographed while in a cradle. Absolutely no materials may be placed on chairs, shelving, or the floor.

Photographs taken in the reading room are intended only for reference, research, or lecture use.

Representatives for television and film production companies should contact the Director of Marketing at marketing@nha.org before coming to the library.
