NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce the return of Winter Discovery Days, a free drop-in after-school program for children and their families this winter. This program features different crafts and activities every weekday Monday through Friday from January 30 through March 31, 2017, from 3 to 5 P.M. in the Discovery Room at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.
Join the fun in the Discovery Room with games, crafts, artifacts, and stories, featuring a different theme and corresponding take-home crafts every week. This year’s themes include Nantucket natives, outdoor explorations, daring daughters, myths and mysteries, sailor’s souvenirs, and more.
Winter Discovery Days will also be offered with extended hours Monday, February 27, through Friday, March 3, 2017, from 1 – 5 P.M. to accommodate school vacation week.
Please note that the program will not take place on Friday, March 10 and Friday, March 24, 2017.
“We are so excited for our upcoming Winter Discovery Days program,” says Evan Schwanfelder, NHA Manager of Education. “This year’s activities are sure to provide Nantucket children and their families with a great opportunity to get creative and learn more about our island’s rich history.”
Winter Discovery Days is free to all children and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
