Sailors Valentine Ornament with Mary Emery Lacoursiere

Make a  miniature version of the ever popular Sailors Valentine.  Using a 3″ cherry box, create a composition using shells, beads and natural materials.  Box comes with a glass dome cover to complete and keep your work safe.   Bring along any small treasure you may have to make your piece stand out.

Its  time to get out of the house and create together safely.  Class will be held in the Discovery Center at the Whaling Museum.  Wearing a mask and safely distanced we will be while we have a bit of joy at the same time.

Mary Emery Lacoursiere graduated from Pratt Institute with an M.F.A. in printmaking and painting. She had a studio in New York City for fifteen years, specializing in hand-painted sisal rugs, murals, and restoring historical painting. A member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration since 1978, Mary has been a contributing artist for Lifetime Television and Hearst Entertainment and currently owns and operates Emery Design here on Nantucket. She is also the director of Education at the Nantucket Historical Association.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
