Youth Weaving: The Nantucket Basket with DecArts Instructor

It’s never too early to begin the lifelong skill of basket weaving. This is a Nantucket tradition that continues to be passed on to new generations of weavers.

This workshop is designed for youth ages 8-14, where each student will learn and execute all steps in weaving their basket and learn how to set up the staves, weave, add the rim and handle on their own 4″ basket with a handle.

This workshop is led by two experienced Nantucket weavers so that students will have excellent instruction and assistance. All materials included.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
