The bentwood shapes of Shaker boxes have been the storage box for dry goods and household items and their descending sizes making them easy to store when not in use. Shakers did not create this design but have long used them due to their simple style and high function.
Making nesting boxes, trays and other functional storage is done in workshops by boiling wood and shaping around a mold. Once dry, it holds its shape and is ready for a painted or oiled finish.
