Support the NHA with an Annual Fund Gift

As the primary keeper of the island’s heritage, the Nantucket Historical Associationtells the inspiring stories of Nantucket through its collections, programs, and properties in ways that are engaging, informative, and entertaining for more than 90,000 visitors a year. We hope you are among them.

From artifact-rich exhibitions, lively programs, and special events, to historic properties, walking tours, and activities for children and families, the NHA is the one place you can go to discover four centuries of island history and appreciate how Nantucket evolved as the place we all treasure today.

So many of the engaging and educational experiences the NHA offers are made possible because of donations to the Annual Fund. Gifts of all sizes are meaningful, deeply appreciated, and enable the NHA to be a vibrant, year-round, community-centered organization.

Thank you. It will be an honor to include you among those who generously support the NHA with a gift to the Annual Fund.

To make an Annual Fund gift:

Make a Tribute Gift

A tribute gift—a gift in honor or in memory of an individual—is a meaningful way to recognize friends and family while supporting the NHA’s mission to preserve and interpret Nantucket's history.

Join the Heritage Society

The Heritage Society honors those individuals who have invested in the NHA’s future by including the association in their wills or estate plans. You receive the satisfaction of knowing that your interest in Nantucket's history will be preserved for future generations. Heritage Society members are honored in perpetuity or may choose to remain anonymous. For more information about planned giving and the Heritage Society, please contact the Development Department; or email us at .

Contribute to the Collections

You can build the NHA's permanent collections by donating your maritime artifacts, paintings, textiles, letters, diaries, logbooks, and books on Nantucket history during your lifetime or through planned giving. Donated artifacts and books will help islanders and visitors to expand their knowledge of Nantucket's cultural, social, political, religious, economic, and artistic development.

The NHA's collections document the entire history of Nantucket. They encompass fifteen historic buildings and sites, 20,000 artifacts, 625 linear feet of manuscripts and archives, 60,000 photographs, and 7,900 books and recordings.

The NHA continues to rely, in large part, upon generous donations of appropriate artifacts, manuscripts, and audiovisual material. We are especially interested in artifacts that are relevant to Nantucket's history, are in stable condition, and have satisfactory provenance, clear title and no restrictions on use.

Donors to the NHA's collection achieve several advantages:
