WAYS TO GIVE

Support the NHA with an Annual Fund Gift

On Nantucket, history is in the air we breathe. It’s all around us here, a touchstone of those who loved this place and cared for it before we did. History is our very soul.

At the Nantucket Historical Association, we tell the inspiring stories of Nantucket through our collections, programs, and properties.

What does this mean for you?

Our programs inspired, entertained, and informed more than 70,000 people this year. We hope you were among them and made a special connection with Nantucket history at some of our eighteen historic properties and sites, ninety public programs and events, sixty 1800 House decorative arts and crafts classes, twenty Food for Thought Lectures, and four special exhibitions as well as the daily presentations, films, and tours at the Whaling Museum.

Perhaps you

Your contribution to the Annual Fund today will help make possible the NHA’s programs, exhibitions, and educational activities throughout the year. There is so much to look forward to in the months ahead.

Thank you! We are grateful for your generosity in supporting the NHA’s mission.

Join the Heritage Society

The Heritage Society honors those individuals who have invested in the NHA’s future by including the association in their wills or estate plans. You receive the satisfaction of knowing that your interest in Nantucket's history will be preserved for future generations. Heritage Society members are honored in perpetuity or may choose to remain anonymous. Contribute to the Collections

You can build the NHA's permanent collections by donating your maritime artifacts, paintings, textiles, letters, diaries, logbooks, and books on Nantucket history during your lifetime or through planned giving. Donated artifacts and books will help islanders and visitors to expand their knowledge of Nantucket's cultural, social, political, religious, economic, and artistic development.

The NHA's collections document the entire history of Nantucket. They encompass fifteen historic buildings and sites, 20,000 artifacts, 625 linear feet of manuscripts and archives, 60,000 photographs, and 7,900 books and recordings.

The NHA continues to rely, in large part, upon generous donations of appropriate artifacts, manuscripts, and audiovisual material. We are especially interested in artifacts that are relevant to Nantucket's history, are in stable condition, and have satisfactory provenance, clear title and no restrictions on use.

Donors to the NHA's collection achieve several advantages:
