Nantucket by Design Announces Design Panel Line-Up

NANTUCKET, MA – Steele Marcoux, editor-in-chief of Veranda magazine, has selected the 2021 Design Panel, which she will be moderating. This distinguished group of designers will include Philip Gorrivan, Philip Mitchell, and Joy Moyler. The Panel will take place on Friday, August 6, during Nantucket by Design, the Nantucket Historical Association’s major summer fundraiser, held Aug. 5 – 7 virtually.

Steele Marcoux’s design education started during her childhood in Atlanta, where she spent many afternoons with her artist mother browsing through galleries, antiques stores, and fabric showrooms. After graduating from Williams College, where Steele studied art history, she worked in Washington, DC as a reporter before returning to the south to pursue a Master of Arts in American history at the University of Alabama. She is a veteran of the shelter publishing industry, having served as editor Coastal Living, Executive Editor at Country Living, Style Director of Country Living, Design Editor at Southern Living and Coastal Living. She has been a freelance writer, editor, and producer for many brands including Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Flower Magazine, HGTV Magazine, and Better Homes & Gardens.

Since 2001 when Philip Gorrivan opened his Manhattan-based designed firm, he has become known worldwide for stylish interiors that marry elegant historical references with sophisticated modernism. His vision often includes antique that range from the 18th century to the French modern. His tailored arrangements are always redolent with an up-to-date sensibility – celebrated in countless design magazines – including Elle Décor, House Beautiful, New York Cottages & Gardens, Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, and Luxe Magazine. He has been a guest on the Nate Berkus show and LXTV’s Open House and a contributing editor for Connecticut Cottages & Gardens. In addition to his interiors, Philip has a successful wallpaper and rug collection, lighting for Best & Lloyd, beds for luxury sleep collection Savoir Beds, and a new fabric collection with Baker.

Renowned for his passion and energy, designer Philip Mitchell is known as a modern maximalist master. His approach is contemporary with a distinctive, casually elegant layered style. He has been twice selected as one of the Top 100 Designers of the World by Andrew Martin Awards and continuously named one of the Top 25 Designers by House & Home Magazine. His passion for restoration has been recognized with numerous historic preservation awards, and he has been invited twice to participate in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Philip’s work is widely celebrated in magazines, newspapers, books, and online, including Veranda, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Galerie Magazine, Traditional Home, House & Home, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and The Globe & Mail. Philip Mitchell established his eponymous design firm in 2002. Philip Mitchell Design Inc is located in New York City, Toronto, and on the east coast of Canada, with a clientele worldwide.

Based in New York, Joy Moyler boasts a diverse range of project opportunities through her interior business. Infusing residential, retail, hospitality, and commercial projects both International and Domestic, with Global culture where applicable.  For Joy, texture, haberdashery, and haute couture details, often found in fashion – are the second skin to architecture and interior design. With a Bachelor of Science architectural degree and more than twenty plus years of experience, Joy has worked for some of New York’s most prominent architectural and interiors firms. Joy Moyler has been profiled in top publications worldwide including, Architectural Digest, Veranda, Elle Decor, Vogue, Array Magazine, Elle Decor South Africa, House Beautiful, Huffington Post, House Beautiful, and Luxury Home Quarterly.
