Nantucket Historical Association to Present Exhibition at 2019 Winter Show in New York
The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce that it has been selected to present the “loan exhibition” at the 2019 Winter Show in New York.
The NHA’s appearance in the Winter Show will coincide with the 125th anniversary of the Association’s founding and the 360th anniversary of the arrival of English settlers. “Trustees are grateful to be selected to participate in this unique opportunity which will introduce the NHA’s superlative collection to a national audience,” states Kelly Williams, President of the Board and Event Chair. “This is an excellent opportunity for the NHA to present this island’s inspiring stories and showcase the depths of its collections.”
The Winter Show is the leading art, antiques and design fair in America, featuring 70 of the world’s top experts in the fine and decorative arts. The event will take place at the Park Avenue Armory and will benefit East Side House Settlement, from January 18-27, 2019.
Throughout the run of the show, the NHA plans a suite of programs and activities that will speak to the island’s rich cultural heritage. A Steering Committee has been formed to coordinate and liaise with the Winter Show organizers. There is a strong Nantucket connection with the Winter Show as it is co-chaired by Lucinda Ballard with Arie Kopelman as Chairman Emeritus. Both reside on island.
