Line Up for NHA 2018 Summer Sunset Series Announced

The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce the return of the popular Summer Sunset Series, with presenting sponsor, Fisher Real Estate. The intimate rooftop concerts take place on Mondays in July and August at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.

These very special evening events, include a concert with catering and libations sponsors Island Kitchen and Cisco Brewers. Guests will also enjoy stunning views of Nantucket Harbor on Tucker’s Roofwalk, the rooftop observation deck at the Whaling Museum.
A cash bar will also be available.

Monday, July 9: Foggy Roots

Foggy Roots, a Nantucket reggae band, are comprised of Floyd Kellogg, Andre Sang Quakenbush, Nigel Goss, and Nick Hayden that formed in early 2015. They perform weekly at Cisco Brewers, as well as private events and parties around the island. In addition to reggae, Foggy Roots also performs classic rock songs from Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Clash, Radiohead, the Talking heads, and more.

Monday, July 16: Coq Au Vin

Together since 2012, Coq Au Vin is an eclectic global sound, home-grown on Nantucket, a fresh and unique revivalist musical ensemble specializing in the performance of a spicy mélange of Gypsy jazz, French, Spanish, Klezmer and Latin American music, as well as American blues standards. The band consists of members Ingrid Feeney (vocals), Peter Arsenault (guitar), Andy Harris (trumpet and euphonium), Caleb Cressman (accordion), Lucy Rose Van Arsdale (upright bass), and Joanna Hay (fiddle). Coq au Vin plays concerts in several different arrangements, ranging from a trio to the full seven-piece band.

The Ballroom Thieves, Calin “Callie” Peters (vocals, cello), Martin Earley (guitar, vocals), and Devin Mauch (percussion, vocals) – mine immense melodies and hypnotic hooks from personal stories on their 2018 EP, Paper Crown (Nettwerk Records). A subtle balance of styles mixing old-school pop elements with big harmonies and folk-sensible songwriting has transformed The Ballroom Thieves into a quiet phenomenon, with sold out shows and standout performances at festivals such as Boston Calling and Newport Folk Festival, while landing features at NPR, Baeble Music, Boston Globe, Paste, Earmilk, and many others.

Tickets are available as of June 15 for July dates and as of July 17 for August dates.
