NHA announces Reimagined Holiday Magic Programming

NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce it has reimagined A Night of Holiday Magic. This beloved family holiday tradition will expand to a 3-week offering of free programming in the Discovery Center at the Whaling Museum.

With all the proper safety protocols in place, children can create ornaments and holiday crafts in the Discovery Center, Tuesdays–Saturdays, 10am–2pm, through December 19, with new themes and activities at each session. Crafts will include candy cane ornaments, reindeer hats, holiday charm necklaces, and more! Families are also invited to pick-up free craft-kits at the Whaling Museum front desk to take part in Holiday Magic activities from home.

A Night of Holiday Magic has been a highlight for families for many years, providing our younger audience with an event of their own. This year we can still experience many of those traditions, just in a new safe and distanced format,” says Mary Lacoursiere, The Peter M. and Bonnie J. Sacerdote Chair of Education and Community Relations. “During the month of December families are invited to the museum and Discovery Center for holiday crafts to get in the spirit of the season.”

The Whaling Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 10am-4pm and closed on Sundays.  Admission is free to the year-round community thanks to the support of Festival of Trees lead sponsor, Marine Home Center.

Our community offering, “Study Hall” also continues at the Whaling Museum, to provide community members with a safe place to study, read, and relax indoors. This will continue through January and the winter season, as the Whaling Museum will remain open and free to islanders.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
