The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) has promoted Miranda Dale to manager of visitor operations and added two new staff members.
Dale, a Nantucket native, graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in English and religious studies. She joined the NHA three years ago as an interpreter in the visitor operations department. Upon the retirements of long-time mangers Peggi Godwin and Maria Grause, Dale stepped up and will be responsible for visitor and interpretive services across the NHA campus.
Dr. Jade Luiz is our new Collections Manager. She received her doctorate from Boston University, where she specialized in historical archaeology, 19th century urbanism, gender, and archaeology of the senses. Prior to being hired by the NHA, she worked at Plimoth Patuxet Museums. She managed the museums’ collections of 17th-century fine and decorative arts, archives related to Mayflower II, as well as the museums’ significant archaeological holdings.
Kelli Yakabu is assistant archivist. She received her master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Washington in 2020. She worked at UW’s Pacific Northwest Collection and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. She manages the digitization and transcription programs.
“Great organizations are built on the shoulders of great staff. Miranda, Jade, and Kelli bring expertise in their respective areas, and I am fully confident that the NHA community will benefit enormously from their being here,” states James Russell, NHA Gosnell Executive Director.
