NHA Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Festival of Wreaths

NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Festival of Wreaths, held November 21–25, 2018, in the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.

The Festival of Wreaths is the NHA’s kick-off celebration to the holiday season. This community tradition features an array of wreaths beautifully crafted by local businesses, nonprofits, schools, organizations, and individuals that are on display during the week of Thanksgiving. Visitors may bid on their favorite wreaths in a silent auction to benefit the NHA’s year-round outreach efforts. From traditionally decorated greens to unconventional materials, all of the Festival of Wreaths entries capture the creativity of Nantucketers.

Donald J. Dallaire and David M. Handy have been named the 2018 Festival of Wreaths Chairs. “We are elated to be kicking off this year’s holiday season by chairing the Festivals of Wreaths,” say Dallaire and Handy. “It truly is the most magical time of year, bringing together Nantucket’s community to help support one of our most cherished organizations on island. We are looking forward to seeing all of the creative and fabulous wreath designs.”

The silent auction is free to the community and takes place throughout the duration of the festival, providing all attendees the opportunity to visit and revisit their favorite wreaths to increase their bids and their chances of winning. This year the NHA is offering an online bidding option for a small number of wreaths for any supporters that cannot attend.

Additional sponsors are: Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank; James Robinson; James Lydon Sons & Daughters / Nantucket Copper Window Box; Killen Real Estate; The Nantucket Hotel & Resort; Novation Media; Botticelli & Pohl; BNY Mellon Wealth Management; Centre Pointe; Cape Air / Nantucket Airlines; Cheney Brothers Building & Remodeling; Congdon & Coleman Insurance; Don Allen Auto Center; Hy-Line Cruises; The Inquirer and Mirror; Johnstons of Elgin; Jordan Real Estate; MB Graphic Design and Printing Studio; Nantucket Bank, a division of Blue Hills Bank; Nantucket Clothing Company; Nantucket Pharmacy; The Steamship Authority; ACK 4170; Atlantic East Nantucket Real Estate; Bartlett’s Farm; CMC Construction, LLC; David M.
