NHA Offers New Tour of “The Great Fire”

The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) presents a new historic tour to commemorate the anniversary of “The Great Fire” on Nantucket 172 years ago. The tour will take place on July 13, 2018.

In 1846 The Great Fire destroyed most of the downtown area between Main Street and Broad Street.  An NHA interpreter will provide an informative twenty-minute tour following the route of the fire in the Nantucket Hotel’s 1945 Pumper.

There will be six tours on July 13, starting at 10:30 a.m. departing from the Whaling Museum at 13 Broad Street and the cost is $10 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information on this tour or other programs and events at the Nantucket Historical Association, please visit www.nha.org or call 508-228-1894.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
