NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce that the seventh installment of Our Nantucket, a community diversity series at the Whaling Museum, will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 4 to 6 P.M.
Focused on the rich and varied cultures that make up the island community, each Our Nantucket program celebrates a different country and highlights the many cultures of today’s Nantucketers. On Sunday, September 17, the NHA will celebrate the country of Lithuania with an evening of song, dance, entertainment, and so much more.
“Nantucket’s rich history has a long-standing legacy of a diverse mix of people from all over the world,” says Brianne Roth, NHA Public Programs Coordinator. “The NHA is honored to celebrate cultural diversity through the Our Nantucket series. Each installment seeks to engage neighbors, friends, and community members to share experiences from near and far in hopes of learning about different cultures in an inspiring atmosphere.”
At Our Nantucket Lithuania, audiences will be treated to a variety of cultural performances and live events throughout the evening.
Each Our Nantucket program features a panel of guest speakers who bring awareness to their individual stories of immigration and relocation to Nantucket. Facilitated by the NHA, panelists share their memories of their home countries, along with their new experiences since moving to Nantucket.
The Our Nantucket series is made possible with generous support from the Community Foundation for Nantucket; Nantucket Bank, a Division of Blue Hills Bank; and the M.S. Worthington Foundation.
