NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce the return of Spring Vacation Days, a free community program for children and their families during April school vacation week. This program features different crafts and activities Monday through Friday from April 18 to 22, 2016, from 1 to 5 P.M. in the Discovery Room at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street. Entrance to the program is through the Discovery Room door on Broad Street.
Join the fun as the Discovery Room catches spring fever, with different themes daily and corresponding take-home crafts, based on the NHA’s historic sites with a different location highlighted each day, including Greater Light, Oldest House, Old Gaol, Old Mill, and Fire Hose Cart House.
“I am very much looking forward to the warmer weather and sunshine that spring brings, and am excited to celebrate that with Nantucket youth in the Discovery Room,” says Angela Grove, NHA Sacerdote Chair of Education. “The room will still have its regular toys and games, but what is special about this program is the crafts that celebrate the many different historic properties on Nantucket, including mini fire carts, faux stained-glass windows, and more!”
The Spring Vacation Days program is free for all children and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is made possible by a generous grant from the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation.
