NHA continues Summer Sunset Series every Monday in July & August

NANTUCKET, MA –The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce the return of the popular Summer Sunset Series of intimate rooftop concerts every Monday in July and August at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.

These very special evenings include a musical event on the rooftop observation deck at the Whaling Museum, paired with light nibbles, unparalleled views of Nantucket Harbor on Tucker’s Roofwalk. A cash bar will also be available.

Monday, July 18
Foggy Roots: Unplugged
7 – 9 P.M.
$20/ticket 

Foggy Roots, a Nantucket reggae band formed in early 2015, is comprised of Floyd Kellogg, Andre Sang Quakenbush, Nigel Goss, and Nick Hayden. They perform weekly at Cisco Brewery, as well as private events and parties around the island. In addition to reggae, Foggy Roots also performs classic rock song covers from Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Clash, Radiohead, the Talking Heads, and more.

Audio Architechs
7 – 10 P.M.

The Audio Architechs are comprised of local DJs Billy Desmond and Pete Ahern, who have been performing on Nantucket for over ten years. Best known for their “Common Ground” parties at local venues like The Rose & Crown, The Muse, Pazzo, and The Grey Lady Nantucket, they have provided a fun and safe atmosphere for fans of underground dance music and have established a loyal Nantucket following. They can also be found playing private events for a varied clientele such as Boston Common Magazine, Nantucket blACKbook fashion shows, art galleries, and more.

Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest

DJ and producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad is a hip-hop icon. As one-third of legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, his influence and impact on the musical landscape is still felt today. The soft-spoken and contemplative Brooklyn native began a life of music at an early age, spending years DJing parties in his Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood before co-founding A Tribe Called Quest in 1985. The group’s socially conscious lyrics and unique production style, heavy on 60s and 70s jazz, funk, and rock samples sound as innovative today as they did two decades ago. Muhammad continues to share his musical vision with the world on remixes by the likes of Broken Bells and Maroon 5, and performing as a DJ around the globe.
