NHA and Fairwinds: Nantucketís Counseling Center present Suicide Prevention Talk with Dr. Erina M. White

NANTUCKET, MA – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA), in partnership with Fairwinds: Nantucket’s Counseling Center, is announces a special presentation titled “A Way Forward: Suicide Prevention” with Dr. Erina M. White on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 4 – 6 P.M. at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.

Erina M. White, PhD, MPH, MSW, is the director of Clinical Services at Neuromotion, a program developed at Harvard Medical School which aims to help children with behavioral and emotional challenges. In addition, she is a clinical researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital, psychotherapist in private practice, and holds faculty appointments at the University of New Hampshire Department of Social Work and Simmons School of Social Work and Harvard Medical School. Dr. White has facilitated multiple suicide prevention and intervention studies. Currently she is working on a nation-wide Family Based Crisis Intervention implementation project geared to help suicidal adolescents and a suicide screening validation study.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Fairwinds to provide a platform for such an important topic and to have an opportunity to share this topic with the Nantucket community,” says Brianne Roth, NHA Public Programs Coordinator.

Fairwinds: Nantucket’s Counseling Center (formerly Family & Children’s Services of Nantucket) is the island’s non-profit licensed mental health clinic. Their mission is to provide comprehensive licensed therapeutic support that fosters mental health through prevention, wellness education, and addiction recovery services.
