Merle Turner Blackshaw Orleans was the daughter of Harry B. Turner, owner and editor of The Inquirer and Mirror newspaper in the early 20th century. Orleans grew up on Nantucket and attended Academy Hill. She married R. Arthur Orleans in 1957. Later, Orleans wrote the “Here and There” and the “Looking Backwards” columns for the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror. McGrath and Orleans worked together on the board of the Sons and Daughters of Nantucket.
Scope and Content
The Kenneth Blackshaw Interview with Eileen McGrath consists of one audio disc. Kenneth Blackshaw (1941- ) interviewed Eileen McGrath (1924- ) about his mother Merle Turner Blackshaw Orleans (1911-1995).
