NEW Discovery Center

Before the “Stay at Home” order went into effect on Nantucket, Ed Rudd, Director of Facilities, stood all alone in the new Discovery Center looking forward to the day when it’s full of young folks having fun. Ed’s team along with Mary Lacoursiere, Chair of Education, have done a tremendous job transforming the space into “Historic Nantucket” where families can enjoy interactive activities, crafts, games, movies, and more. And of course, the fabulous model Nantucket Railroad will be back.

As weather and COVID-19 restrictions permit, the Historic Nantucket theme will be extended into the yard behind the center as a kid’s park with more interactive activities featuring a kid-sized Nantucket wharf, a catboat, and the newly acquired massive inflatable whales.

Check back and we’ll keep you updated on our progress.
