The Fine Art of Craft

On June 14, the 1800 House will open The Fine Art of Craft, a special juried exhibition showcasing Nantucket-made decorative arts. Many of the artists whose work will be on display also instruct classes at the 1800 House. Artisans such as Lee Papale, Napp Plank, and Mark Sutherland, among others will be highlights of the show. Visitors will delight in works of scrimshaw, baskets, boat models, penwork, and needlework, to name a few of the mediums included in the exhibition.

Opening to the general public on June 14 at 4:00 p.m., The Fine Art of Craft will be on view at the 1800 House at 4 Mill Street, Monday through Thursdays until August 10, 2018.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
