The Timeline

Step back in time . . .

Your first experience in the Whaling Museum will be the historical timeline in the entrance hall illustrating the highlights of Nantucket history from 3000 b.c. to today.

Through compelling artifacts, touchable models, portraits and imagery, with just a short stroll, you will learn about Wampanoag life, Nantucket’s earliest settlers, the growth and decline of whaling and the prosperity that boomed and waned along with it, and ending with today’s economy of tourism and building.
