Celebrating Women’s History Month!
Join us in the Discovery Center for a special family program, featuring readings of My Important Girl with author Leslie Yeransian Dolsak. Kids can participate in hands-on creative activities related to the book during the program, learn about the many amazing roles women take on these days, and leave with giveaway packets that encourage children to spend quality time with important adults in their life!
MOTHERS HAVE MANY JOBS. My Important Girl spotlights all the little things moms do every day that we don’t see, know about or maybe even take for granted.
My Important Girl is the winner of the Moonbeam Children’s book award for best first children’s book. Leslie has two more children’s books releasing this year: The Redstone Schoolhouse, a tribute book on the children’s classic Mary Had a Little Lamb, highlighting the bond between human and animal. And 180 Dates an interactive journal for a parent to record their monthly quality time with their child.
Leslie Yeransian Dolsak spent two decades in broadcast journalism and corporate communications before becoming a full-time mother of five children and four step-children. She launched 6000 Sunsets to provide parents with the simple tools–too often forgotten– for creating a special bond with your child daily.
Every day the sunsets, it’s consistent and reliable. How many sunsets do we see with our child? We have 6,000 sunsets to see from birth til he/she graduates from high school. Take 15-minutes each day to see a sunset or do something special (like plant herb seeds and tend to them daily) with your child. Do something off the grid that will truly make an impact in their hearts and lives.
