Griffin Saves His Tree: Story of A Nantucket Elm Tree

In honor of Earth Day, island artist Maria Zodda and her puppet Elvira Elm will read “Griffin Saves His Tree” and share knowledge about these iconic island giants.  Children will create their own elm puppet to bring home.  Elvira Elm will both delight and educate children about these special giants that grace our beautiful island.  Signed books will be available and proceeds go to the Nantucket Land Council.

This is a free event and registration is recommended.

Maria Zodda is a retired Special Education teacher and school volunteer.  She has lived on Nantucket since 2000 and has written 2 children’s books.  Her grandkids serve as inspiration.  The Nantucket Land Council supported the publication of Griffin Saves His Tree.

Sponsored by the Nantucket Land Council.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
