Interwoven Stories Stitching Gam

Interwoven Stories is a yearlong community project that encourages participants to create an embroidered narrative that illustrates an aspect of their Nantucket experience.

Free kits containing an 8.5 X 11 fabric ‘page’, embroidery thread, needle and hoop will be available at the workshop. Participants are asked to create and return their finished pages, which will be displayed as an exhibit during the 2018 Nantucket Arts Festival. All pages become the permanent property the Interwoven Stories project.

This free workshop is chance for everyone to stitch together in a creative, supportive environment. There will be someone available to help work out design ideas and translate them into a finished piece. Come get a kit to begin the project or bring a page you have already started.

Interwoven Stories is presented by the Nantucket Atheneum, the Nantucket Historical Assocation and the Artists’ Association of Nantucket. The project is funded by a generous grant from the Nantucket Arts Council.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
