Members’ Evenings, Inside the Archaeology Collection

Enjoy an evening presentation focused on the NHA archaeology collection with Karl Wietzel, NHA Collections Specialist.

For over a hundred years, avid collectors and archaeologists have worked with the NHA to house, research and maintain Native American artifacts found on Nantucket. Now, the NHA is working to preserve this important collection for new generations.

Join us at the NHA collections storage facility for a behind the scenes look at the oldest collection of man-made artifacts we maintain. Examine rarely seen stone tools and ceramics, learn more about the Native Americans who created them, discuss the process of preserving the objects and their provenance, and possibilities for future exhibition.

Sign up by contacting Membership@nha.org

Held in person at the Gosnold Center for small groups of 20 members.  Please reserve your spot as space is limited.

The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
