Scrimshaw Lecture with Dr. Stuart Frank

The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) welcomes Dr. Stuart Frank for “Curiosities and Oddments of Scrimshaw in the Nantucket Historical Association”, a lecture on scrimshaw, on Saturday August 11, 2018. Dr. Frank is a former curator of the New Bedford Whaling Museum, he is currently Director of the Scrimshaw Forensics Laboratory and the world’s foremost expert on scrimshaw. He will introduce viewers to the extraordinary range of this fanciful artwork. Images of these unique creations from NHA’s collection will be highlighted in an entertaining and educational multimedia presentation.
